Patti Chapman

President, Board Chair

Patti’s journey with ALD began in 1958 when her younger brother Bobby passed away from the disease at the age of five. She first met Myelin Project founder, Augusto Odone, in 1987 shortly after learning that her surviving brother and eldest son also inherited x-linked ALD.

Patti’s brother Richard passed away in 2001 from AMN just ten years after his diagnosis. Her son Michael also suffers from the adult onset of ALD, also known as AMN, affecting his ability to walk requiring the use of a cane.  Patti has served on the Board of Directors of The Myelin Project for over 20 years, and became president of the organization in 2009. She has helped raised over a million dollars for myelin disease research.
